Light Equipment Workout
If you prefer more resistance in your workouts than you can muster with your own body weight, bringing along some light equipment will keep both you and your luggage from being overweight (for your own body shape, of course!).
We’re talking about bands, of course. It’s amazing how much of an exhausting, yet fulfilling, workout you can get from simply adding bands.
So, is it possible that using resistance bands can result in a workout as efficient as workouts with weights at the gym? Actually, the answer seems to be “no”. Evidence shows that using bands allows for safer workouts, with “greater muscle stimulus” and “improved strength and athletic performance”. So skipping the gym, embarking on some amazing travels, and using resistance bands might just be the best thing you’ve done for your body.
My Favorite Work out Apps
If you’re the type of person who needs a trainer in order to get your workouts done, you’ll be so glad to hear that you can easily access training videos and even live training sessions right from your phone or laptop. Apps such as Peloton and Obé allow you to work out from anywhere, whether that means a gym that you’re visiting while traveling, or from the comfort of your hotel resort. Both apps include live classes and previously recorded classes on-demand. So whichever style of workout you’re looking for, you’re always guaranteed to find it.
Peloton includes many exercises that do require equipment, if you find a gym while traveling and choose to work with their online trainers. If you prefer to skip the gym, they have plenty of at-home exercises that will provide work outs just as intense using Bodyweight only.
As for Obé, there’s a reason they call themselves the “The world’s most immersive digital fitness experience & community.”. With over 2,500 on-demand classes ranging from yoga to dance HIIT, they have exactly the type of home workout you’re looking for.
